20 February, 2005:
Let's see.. what haven't I mentioned here yet.. *lol*
Well, I've been getting nice Egyptian things lately - first, some sand from Egypt
(thanks to Taru), which came with a beautiful Tutankhamun card:
And then, Daniel surprised me with two issues of "The Gods of Ancient Egypt" magazine,
both of which came with a miniature statue of a god - here's Ra and Anubis:
Before I had ever seen any dollhouse sites (=some years ago), one of my vague
plans was to build something Ancient Egypt related.. But then I found the mini
sites, and saw loads of similar projects, which sort of killed that subject for
me, miniwise. Anyway, these statuettes are so cool that I might end up building
a tomb scene someday, after all.. We'll see..
I've also been busy working on a certain book project.. It's a group effort, and
it's all in Finnish, but that's all I'll say about it for now.
Above and below, my book project material..
I've found a new Finnish crafts forum, which is really good as it's about ALL
crafts, so if you were to need help on something you're not that familiar with,
you can always check the other threads, and will probably find someone who knows
the stuff and can help! The forum is in Finnish, BUT, there's also a thread in
English, if someone's interested in having a look - the URL is
Ihanitse.com, and you'll
need to scroll down to the end of the front page, to find the English thread.
On that crafts forum, we were discussing paper types (for scrapbooking, etc.),
and I was wondering if a certain type of paper was what my ex-pen pal used to
write letters on.. So, Minna surprised me with some samples, and included cute
mini tags (see the picture above)! This means one of my fashion dolls will have
a new hobby...
And that's not all the surprises I've received lately - Satu sent me a hot glue
gun as I had mentioned that I'd never tried or even seen such thing! Pictures of
my brand new Gregory are above and below. Yes.. I named him Gregory as that's
how I felt from the very first drop of hot glue: "Oh, Gregory, where have you
BEEN all my life?!" (That's right, I'm a fan of The Simpsons..)
Here are my first attempts with Gregory:
I mentioned before, that we had a craft session with Maaria and Jen, and that I'd
post pictures. Well, I'll post some links to albums I made of their photos:
Jen's photos
The little green dragon is what Jen made during our craft session, the other pics
are of her "Day of the Dead" crafts she had made earlier on, in Canada.
Maaria's photos
We've had two more craft sessions with Maaria since that first time (Jen could
not take part as she was working, but we're also planning to have more craft
sessions with her), so Maaria has done a lot - don't miss the number link to the
second page, it's in the end of the first page. Quite a doll-maker, eh!
Here's Maaria (above), with our Oimouttahere (the cat).

31 January, 2005:
Eek, the first month of 2005 is nearly gone, and it's taken me this long to get
back to updating my mini site! *blush* I can explain, though! LOL.. We went to
Finland for Christmas, and as usual, I got a bad flu coming back home.. It kept
me pretty much out of energy for two weeks, and after that, Daniel's mam went to
Spain for a whole month, so I took the opportunity to use her room as a temporary
storage while reorganising "my office". Another two-week job, that!
But I suppose you'd like to see some new pictures by now, so here's what I got
for Christmas - miniwise:
We had our traditional-by-now gathering at Molly Malone's in Helsinki, and I met
three miniaturist net friends for the first time, face to face (Katriina, Raija,
and Riikamaria who unfortunately couldn't stay, but it was nice of her to come
and say hi, anyway!). Raija brought me sand and miniatures! Above, two beautiful
handbags, and two bottles of glogg... *hiC*
The Finnish version of "Da Vinci Code", also from Raija. I think she said this
was made using the Lego miniature book, so it can be a book or a video.
A miniature surprise from Riikamaria - two of her famous miniature books (I had
heard of them, but they are even more impressive than I had expected!) and a lovely
pink rose.
This sofa and chairs are a pressie from my mam - she had bought me lots of gorgeous
mini surprises at the fair in early December (Vanha, Helsinki). The scale is smaller
than 1:12, could be around Lundby scale, but it doesn't matter as I can always make
a smaller scale roombox - or ship my old Lundby to Ireland... *I wish!*
A tray of spuds (I think) and some kitchen towel, from my mam as well..
Most of the minis my mam gave me, were packed in this beautiful velvet box, and she
had wrapped a deep gold/mustard yellow ribbon around it - I think my fashion dolls will
get the box..
As I had mentioned something about Advent candles to my mam, she got an Advent candle
holder for both my dollhouse and myself, as in 1:12 and 1:1 scale! Woohoo!
These kitchen utensils are made of metal, and they're very delicate and beautiful.
Here's a badly focused close-up of them.. The one on the left is a cheese slicer, you
can't really tell by the photo..
Posh dinnerware for my dollies..
We visited Porvoo (an old town near Helsinki), and my mam bought me this little surprise
We had a craft session on Saturday (29th), with Maaria (originally from Finland, like
myself) and Jen (originally from Canada). It was great fun, I'll post some pictures
later..
