15 November, 2002:
I just felt like making Something, so I started a little roombox, which is actually more like just a corner of a room as the box I'm using isn't that big or deep. It's the lid part of a Lancome box - I used the other part for my dollhouse wardrobe!
I started by making two little loops of copper wire, in case I'd feel like hanging the box on the wall or something. Then I glued some linen to the ceiling and floor, and wallpapered the room with the same Laura Ashley fabric I've used in my dollhouse.

I made a fireplace like this: The metal part is from a beer can (it was really easy to cut with normal scissors, just be careful if you do it as the edges can be very sharp), and the frame is of cardboard, which I've painted with black colour touch (meant for cars, really). The fire is a print-out of a real fire.
I wanted a big framed picture on top of the fireplace, and the first thing I found was a cute picture from a National Geographic ad! I made the frames of cardboard, which I covered with green cotton.

There wasn't much room left, so I couldn't fit in a chair or a corner table. I was sort of thinking of making a Christmas tree in the corner, but I had no material for it, so I just made a bookshelf. It's made of cardboard (from a perfume box), and I painted it deep purple. I don't know what I'll put on the shelves yet, maybe photo albums and some decorations..
Something else I made tonight, which is so funny that I just have to share! You know those plastic yokes you have to pull out to open some juice cartons and oil bottles? And how about those plastic tampon applicators? (gasp!!) Well, I discovered that these two can be combined to make a perfect little bin:

Later on:
I made some books for the bookshelf, by cutting bits of thick cardboard (I made them in different sizes, because it'd look boring if they were all the same size), gluing a slip of white paper over the top part (to look like pages, instead of that wavy cardboardy stuff), and finally gluing a slip of colourful paper to make the covers of the books:

I just cut the 'covers' out of a magazine, so I got lots of different colours, and it looks like all the books are different. One of the books has two bits of cardboard glued together before covering it, so it looks a bit like a phone book, or something..
Even later:
This is how the roombox looks like at the moment:

I made a TV of black cardboard that's from a Maltesers box, added a hard see-through plastic screen, and a rainbow picture from the good old National Geographic ad. In the picture below, you can actually see a reflection of my web cam on the telly screen!

I didn't feel like making lots of books again, so I made a (rather dry looking) houseplant for the upper shelf. The inner part of the tampon applicator made a perfect little flowerpot, the soft plastic is easy to cut with normal scissors. For the plant, I used paper ribbon. I cut it in short bits, and tied them together with copper wire, then wrapped some black wool around the "roots". When I stuffed the wool in the pot, it looks like planting soil, it keeps the plant firmly in place, and since the applicator pot is bottomless, I just spread some glue on the bottom of the wool, and glued the whole thing on the shelf:

13 November, 2002:
Sending my Christmas swap items to Finland today.. So, there will be pictures about them on this site soonish, I just want to wait until everyone has received their swap parcel. Can't wait to get mine, either!! 19 different mini items..
I've also been updating the website about the recent roombox exhibition in Forssa, Finland, that had roomboxes made by 'Nuket' lista members.. The site is still not 100% ready, there are going to be even more photos, but there's plenty already, you can browse the galleries here.

13 October, 2002:
I've been messing with some cardboard and glue, so there might be some sort of furniture coming soon, depending on the result.. I'm not that keen on using cardboard as material, but since I have loads of it, I'm playing with it until I get something better.
It's Daniel's birthday today, and I made him a FIMO monster, whom he named Frat:

I just started messing with soft FIMO, and my only plan was to make some sort of a monster (since Daniel is so much into computer games). The first bit of FIMO started looking like a leg, so I just followed what was happening, and Frat was born and baked - LOL. When he cooled down, I painted him green (my FIMO was blue!), with dark brown eyes and nostrils, and glossed him with clear nail polish.

2 October, 2002:
Marie made a site about her roombox project, so you CAN see the work so far, by checking out her mini site.

1 October, 2002:
I received some beautiful miniature surprises from Marian yesterday, you can see photos of them on the "Mini gifts I've received" page (see menu on the left). It really made my day!
My net friend Marie is also making a roombox, and she's sent me some pictures of the project, so I'll probably display them on this site as well - but her roombox is going to be a surprise present for someone, so I'm not going to say more about it just yet! (My my.. amn't I being very secretive about all the current projects! LOL) Having seen her first pictures, though, I have to say it's looking very good so far! I'm almost as excited about it as if I was making it myself.

24 September, 2002:
I've been working on the 19 items for the Christmas swap of "Nuket" (Finnish) Yahoo group. As the items are supposed to be a surprise, I can't add photos or other details to the site until everyone has received their swap packages! This is the first swap I'm in, and I can't wait to get the surprise minis - each of us will make 19 more or less identical items, so we will all get the same stuff.
It's also the first time I'm making the items I decided to make (big secret, lol), so I can't be 100% sure if it'll be a success until I've finished a few of them - who knows, I may yet have to change the item! :-o
When I told my mam what I'm making, she ordered a few as well! One for her, one for her best friend, and so on.. LOL
